What Is This?
This workbook helps you keep a clear, organized factual record of events related to a family-law matter. You don't need to know how to organize the information before you begin — you simply record what happened, and the workbook organizes it for you.
How It Works
- Go to BURDEN OF PROOF. This is the only sheet you normally enter information on.
- Enter an event. Record the date and time, what happened, who was involved, the closest factual category, and any evidence you know about.
- You do not enter the Log ID. It's assigned automatically as soon as you start typing a new row.
- Document facts, not conclusions. Record what was said or observed, not what you believe it means.
What Happens After You Enter an Event?
You enter the event once. It automatically appears on the Timeline, the Evidence Index, and the Documentation Categories it relates to — nothing needs to be copied by hand.

No. You record what was paid, whether it was shared, and what's been received. Burden of Proof records the information you provide — it does not determine legal responsibility or interpret your custody order.
Does the Variance report tell me if the other parent violated the order? +
No. The Variance report shows differences between what your court order specifies, what your calendar reflects, and what you documented as actually happening. It's an organizational comparison only — it does not determine a legal violation, assign fault, or provide legal advice. Consult your attorney about how any difference may be relevant to your situation.
What type of evidence can I track? +
You can track things such as texts, emails, call records, school records, medical records, photos, videos, documents, receipts, calendars, and other supporting information.
Can I use this for relocation? +
Yes. Relocation is one possible family-law use case, but the system is designed to be useful for many types of family-law documentation.
What do future updates include? +
